Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017

I’m looking forward to starting a new year. 2016 wasn’t too bad for me personally, but there were certainly some pretty crappy things about it.

Highlights:

  • started working at Automattic
  • family has been healthy
  • got a new puppy

Lowlights:

  • the election
  • too many people I grew up watching and listening to died
  • anxiety reared its ugly head

I’m not a big fan of resolutions, I tend to drop them fairly quickly. Last year’s goals were pretty simple:

  • lose 20 lbs by May
  • run a 5k by Thanksgiving
  • 5 pull-ups by the end of the year

Needless to say, I didn’t actually meet those goals. I have tried to stay active and eat better, and some days are better than others. I’m going to continue with the same goals as last year. With the anxiety under control, it’s time to keep pushing forward a step at a time.
